Friday Prayer for a Generous Heart: 8 Prayer Points for Giving and Gratitude
Why Pray for Generosity?
Generosity does not come naturally to everyone, especially when money is tight. Yet Scripture shows that God shapes our hearts as we give. Paul wrote:
“Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” (2 Corinthians 9:7, KJV)
Opening Prayer
Heavenly Father, everything I have comes from You. Today I ask You to shape my heart to give freely and gladly.
8 Prayer Points for a Generous Heart
1. Gratitude First
Lord, help me to see how much You have given me, so that I give out of thankfulness and not fear.
2. Freedom From Selfishness
Break the habit of holding on too tightly. Teach me to loosen my grip on money, time and comfort.
3. Eyes to See Needs
Open my eyes to people around me who need help, and make me willing to act.
4. Wisdom in Giving
Show me where and how to give well. Lead me to trustworthy ministries and charities, and to people who truly need support.
5. Generosity With Time
Help me to give attention, visits, rides and listening, not only money.
6. Generosity With Words
Make me quick to encourage, thank and bless others.
7. Trust in Your Provision
Even in a lean season, help me to trust that You will meet my needs as I obey You.
8. A Cheerful Spirit
Let my giving come from joy, without pride or pressure.
Closing Prayer
Father, make me a channel of Your kindness. Let my open hand reflect Your open heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
